CAS-ual Fridays Modern Hello

Well hello to you!  I hope you're having a great day!  It's my turn to post on the CASual Friday's blog!    Today I'm mixing an older set Wallflower with a brand new set called Modern Petals!
I stamped a colorful background by repeating the Modern Petal border using my Misti stamping tool.  I can't tell you how easy this is when you have a stamping tool!  I used Memento ink and double stamped the images for rich, deep color.
I didn't want to cover up all that background stamping so I added a sentiment on a Funky Square Tag.  This is a two die set that gives you the ability to layer color.  I cut the larger background die from black because I knew it could hold up against that colorful background.  I stamped the simple hello sentiment on white and added some 4 petal flowers from the Wallflower set.
Instead of a bow or twine for the tag hole I thought it would be fun to have it hanging from a Lovely Link Fri Die Cut.
I love how striking the black embellishments are on the colorful background!

Pretty Little Studio - You Are My Happy!

I'm loving all the new collections in the Pretty Little Studio store! Today I'm playing with the new Blooming Hearts Collection! The collection is a fun mix of brights and pastels with black accents thrown in for more drama! Its fun and fresh with geometric prints like triangles and diamonds, with some pretty florals too!
See what I mean? Who knew pastels and brights could be so happy together? I started with a mix of background paper prints and topped that with a 3x4" Pocket Card from the "Our Story" pack.
I created a focal point using the Picture Perfect frame topped with Blooming die cut flowers. There are so many pretty flowers and fronds in the pack you're going to have a hard time deciding which ones you want to use! I love how the journaling card pattern peeks through the open frame. I added half of a 4" Cambridge Doily under the journaling card because I love the lacy look with the flowers. It also helps soften some of the hard lines created in the patterns and layering. TIP: Using only half the doily helps stretch your craft supplies! Save the other half for another project!
I added a tab at the top and a yellow "you are awesome" circle die cut (both from Picture Perfect die pack), and a sentiment from the I Heart You die pack. The bright yellow color is repeated throughout the design.
A little sparkle and shine is all this one needs! I added some Gift Wrap Red sequins, and 4mm Crystal

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Tupelo Designs LLC - Oriental Orchids

Happy Friday! Are you going to be spending time outdoors? The weather here is so unpredictable here. If it's nice you know I'm going to be outside! I'll make Mr. J start up the grill and get cooking LOL! If it's rainy I'm guessing he'll be watching the TV and I'll slip away for some crafting.

I'm playing with the Altenew Oriental Orchids from Tupelo Designs LLC. They're my favorite place to shop! They carry lots of my favorite brands.. .Reverse Confetti, Altenew, My Favorite Things, Concord and 9th, and Waffle Flower just to name a few.

They've got free shipping ALWAYS (USA ONLY) with no coupon code required.

I also like that I get reward points for dollars I spend in the shop. These turn into dollars that I can use on my next order. I sure hope you will give them a chance the next time you want to order something! Want to go shopping? Click here!
The Oriental Orchids are a multi layer stamping set.  No worries choosing colors - Altenew inks take the guess work out of choosing what colors to layer together.   I love that their packaging also has photos of the completed images for easy reference.
I didn't add all the layers in the set.  I stamped the base layer in Frosty Pink, and then the outline in Ruby Red.  For the middle layer I used Coral Berry.  I added a bit of yellow to the flower centers with a Copic Marker.
I toyed around with the idea of putting the orchids on pattern paper but decided against it.  The simplicity of this design lets the flowers do all the talking!
A simple finishing touch is a few gold glitter enamel dots.

I hope you have a great day doing what you love!

The Card Concept - Let Your Dreams Take Flight!

Hello sweet friends!  I hope you're having a beautiful day!  The sun is shining here (for now!).. we're still suffering through the "April Showers".. but alas!  There are flowers abound!  I cringe every time I hear a lawn mower .. we've been without them for so many months it sounds like so much noise!

Today I'm playing along at The Card Concept!  I thought this photo was absolutely gorgeous.. the soft blue base filled with baby's breath and little butterflies.  I spy a hint of pink in the pretty doilies in the foreground, and lots of white and some wood grain.

The Card Concept is a unique challenge because the design team highlights specific design styles.  They each approach the inspiration with their particular talent.. so one designer might be clean an simple, while another is Shabby Chic.   You can be you!  Any style you want!
Today I'm going to be Clean and Layered.  I used pattern paper, lots of clean white space, and some embellishments!
I started with a white Large Eyelet Cover Panel from Reverse Confetti!   I wanted to give a lacy appearance to mimic the baby's breath in the vase.  The blue pattern paper peeking through is for the blue vase of course!
I inked up Butterfly Dreams in Orange Pink and Yellow.  I added an outline of darker ink along the edges of the stamp to add some depth and interest to the solid butterfly images.

I stamped solid little butterflies over the cover panel to add more color, and some colored pearls to the die cut flower centers.

Color Throwdown - Happy Anniversary!

Hi and thanks for stopping by!  I hope you're having a great day!  It's starting to get warmer here, and it's so nice to have daylight past 5 pm!   With the time change it's lighter much later making the days seem longer.  The weather is starting to pull me out side.   It feels so good to sit in the sunshine and breathe the out door air!  I've even got the windows open!  YAYY!!!   I can hear the birds every morning - a great way to start my day!

I'm the lucky guest designer this month at Color Throwdown!  I've never been big on color challenges...you'd laugh to see how I start.  I pull out a piece of paper in each of the colors and just stare at them... hmmm.. whats red, orange, purple and yellow?    Thank goodness they've got folks like me figured out!  I can look at the inspiration photo and draw from that!  Thank you Color Throwdown!!!

I made an anniversary card starting with a clean white background of embossing (We R Memory Keepers Quilted) and lace!  I embossed the top half of the card and then layered on a pretty doily (Cheery Lynn Mandy Doily) to look like the lace on that gorgeous wedding dress in the photo.
I like layers, and didn't want a completely clean white background so I decided to add some purple accents.  I don't see enough purple - it's so hard to find pattern paper that color!  (This paper is Kaiser kraft Wildflower Collection 12").   To break up the white cardstock and pattern paper I added a border of solid purple cardstock cut with the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Borders 2 die.  It's so elegant!
I inked up the Altenew Vintage Roses in Reds, Yellows and Oranges.  This was the first set I got by them and I'm still in love with it!  Who knew the leaves in purple would look so beautiful with the colorful roses?
A sprinkle of Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins shine like diamonds!
